The "Anti Bride"

I just returned from a wedding photographers convention in Las Vegas. As always, we all learned lots, stayed up way too late, spent way too much money, and had a ton of fun in the process!

These two shots were taken during our desert wedding "shootout"; where hundreds of us conventioneers converged on a dry lake bed outside Vegas for a photo demonstration from two well-known wedding photographers. It seems everyone else there had their big cameras with their huge lenses (photo 1). Not me... these were taken with my camera phone!

So there we were in the desert with a classic Thunderbird convertible and a bride and groom (models). The idea behind this shot (photo 2) was to put the bride in the trunk and photograph the groom standing idly by with a shovel. The shot was appropriately named "Anti Bride". Just slightly left of center for most of the work I do, but very fun to watch and learn from.

Away from the office

Please note that I will be out of town all week at a boring photo conference in boring Las Vegas... Wait - those things are fun! Yay!

Please contact me anytime, as I will have access to email, but there won't be any updates to the blog for a few days. Have a great week!

Details

We hear over and over, "It's about the little things". Details, small details, of a wedding are often so meaningful (and costly), yet are so easily overlooked. We don't capture the details of your wedding just for the sake of remembering details; we capture them becuase they spark powerful emotions and memories of your wedding day. Will you hang a large photo of a detail shot in your home? Not likely. But detail shots will add impact to your album!

Album Design!

This is album season! I've been busy designing albums for many of my 2006 clients. If I shot your wedding and you haven't planned your album yet, let's do it now!! :-)

Here's a spread from a Masha & Charles' wedding I shot this past December. Although their wedding was small (I shot for just 2 hours), the entire affair was very elegant and full of love. This spread of our beautiful bride Masha is designed for a 9.5x13 coffee table book, so when the book is open, the image you see here will be 19x13. See the entire album design here. Pic-o-the-day!

March is a pretty slow month for shooting. So I stay busy designing albums, marketing, staying in touch with my clients, attending tradeshows and conferences, posting to blogs...

Today's picotheday (two pics, acually!) comes from Laurel and Justin's wedding in Sonoma, CA last October. What a great time we had! These images were made the day after the wedding, when they agreed to get their wedding clothes back on and go have some more fun. Time was short and we literally ran from one spot to the next. Check out their complete wedding here (use your back button to return to the blog).

Angela and James' wedding

I just returned from shooting Angela and James' wedding in Roseville CA. We had a great time and captured some awesome images. I was fortunate to be assisted by my good friends Dennis DeSilva of Studio Seven and Cathy Breslow.
